The popular free messaging service, WhatsApp, allows everyone who has completed the age of 13 to register for their platform. On the other hand, the European Union's General Data Protection Directive now requires that everyone under the age of 16 be prevented.
The regulation requires special precautions to be taken for the processing of personal data belonging to a child. Therefore, WhatsApp has introduced the minimum age requirement for everyone under the age of 16 to have parental or guardian approval to use the service.

The company underscores the new high transparency standards for how users protect their privacy with new updates. Users of WhatsApp who can not verify their age before the regulation have begun to be taken out of service by May 25th.

It is also allowed to download a copy of the data stored on the server with the latest WhatsApp update. This innovation is also one of the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation. So the service does not do this for good.

WhatsApp emphasizes that their goal is to explain how they use and protect only limited information about their users.
